Your skin, summer ready

Summer has arrived! Which means a lot of warmth, sun and outdoor picnics. That the sun can be damaging for your skin is something you are familiar with. But, in which ways can we take better care of our skin during summertime?

Transpiration

The temperatures that arise during summertime bring a nice warm wind on your face with them and with that as well more transpiration. At first, you might not notice it, but the skin on your face releases more moisture than during more mediocre temperatures.

Your skin does not immediately react from a bit of sweat. Nonetheless, existing irregularities on your skin do not thrive under these conditions and might worsen. While sweat contains a lot of proteins that are good for the balance of bacteria in and on the skin, it may also contain little parts of dirt [1]. This is one of the reasons why it is important that, during summertime, the skin is cleaned after you have sweat more than normal. Your skin will sustain its’ beautiful glow!

Temperatures

The heat might mean trouble for your skin. The balance of the right bacteria, temperatures, and levels of moisture in and on the skin are important to persevere the healthy look and beautiful texture of your skin.

When your skin has a predisposition to be more greasy (if you do not know which type of skin you have, take a look at this blog and find out yourself), it is especially important that during summertime your skin is taken care of with more light and water-based products. On the opposite side, the more dry skin thrives on a cream that is more greasy and helps sustain, moisturize and rebuild the fragile skin.

Sunscreen

At first and foremost, sunscreen is important in the protection of the skin and prevention of the aging process of the skin due to the sun. Additionally, sunscreen can be irritating for the skin. Often, sunscreen has a water-resistant factor in the cream. This forms a sealed layer on the skin which makes it difficult for your skin to breath.

When the skin endured more than one layer of sunscreen all day, it is again important to clean the skin in the right way. Sunscreen is often a bit harder to remove from the skin due to the protective toxins incorporated in the cream. But, this does not mean it is okay to rub your face harder than normally. Rinsing the skin thoroughly with a mild face cleanser and lukewarm water will do the trick.

Cleansing

Like mentioned before, cleansing the skin is always important to sustain that healthy, beautiful glow and soft skin, even more so during summertime. Moreover, the skin is a bit more sensitive than normally. To scrub the skin will mean to irritate it. A better solution is to exfoliate. With this cleansing method, old skin cells are being softly removed. Exfoliating the skin will make the skin more adaptive to nourish itself with the nutrients from your skincare routine[2], causing your skin to feel perfectly hydrated and beautiful.
